BSc Honours Specialization in Synthetic Biology, Western University 2023

Amy is from Vancouver, B.C., and earned her B.Sc. in Synthetic Biology from Western University in 2023. Her thesis focused on developing a yeast biosensor for device-free illicit drug detection. As part of the Weckman Lab, her research focuses on designing a user-friendly CRISPR-based diagnostic for rapid, on-site detection of fungal pathogens and antimicrobial resistance. She is passionate about biotechnology research that addresses key challenges in health and food security. Outside of the lab, she is involved in the BioZone Student Council, Graduate Mentorship Program, and Run Club.
